reflection someday made whole
the tension i feel, the pulling, aching, longing, grasping... the rift in the brokenness, in the division in my soul. the lost and the found clawing and dying for union.
i know now that this unity will come to pass.
we are created in the image of a perfect, beautiful savior, yet what we face in our mirrors is on its own a wretch full of vice, malice, and selfish cravings. even in the seemingly slightest of sins, i am betraying my Savior and nailing Him to the cross. so this wretch is a wretch indeed.
yet there is beauty in our fallen state.
there is redemption in the precious blood of Jesus, and with this, the broken mirror of our existence is brought closer together -- one day to be fully whole with a crystal-clear image of our Creator.
while we are still here, these pieces do reflect Him -- we have glimpses of Him throughout our lives. every brother and sister in Christ that i see has been gifted with a unique aspect of my Creator, and by this we are an image of Him.
now i ask this question: does a mirror reflect what is not there?
yes, we cannot see what our finite human minds might perceive to be God, but yes HE is there. He is everywhere, in and through everything, and the reflection of Him is brought about by His presence in us and with us.
i want to fall down forever in worship when i think about the day when we will see the very one we now reflect -- we will see Him face to face and no soul will any longer question if He is there.
He is.
"For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known." - 1 Corinthians 13:12 ESV
