new creation
yesterday was my new 0th birthday!!!
God wove so many threads intricately together to bring me to this day. it seriously boggles my mind to think about every little thing that He used to bring it about.
my father joined me in the baptismal tank (i think that's the word??) and helped lower me into the water (i nearly smashed my head on the wall, but my pastor saved me at the last second...).
it was an indescribable joy to be baptized along with a fellow believer, each of us making a commitment to walk with Christ for eternity. washed clean in His blood, adopted as His children. how rich and profound a truth. how utterly undeserving we are! the testimony He gave me was written with blood and tears, its pages filled with heartache and loss...
yet the result is pure, abiding joy.
the reward is indescribable, authentic love from a Father that knows and adores us completely.
does this mean that all tears cease and all pain disappears in this life? no (though they will someday!), but it is all part of His story of our lives in which He continues to walk with us, holding our hand, anchoring us in the storm, lighting our way in the darkest night.
every human heart so desperately longs for this. to listen to a friend describe the depth of her pain from a past relationship pierces me doubly as i not only feel for her pain in those trying moments, but also for the wound carved down to the depths of her soul.
i do not say this as if the wound in my soul has vanished. no, it is still there, yet it is gently mended and restored through my Savior's selfless death on the cross and His resurrection that bought me with His blood poured out on that day.
so just know that there is an answer.
there is one that makes all things come together and redeems every broken thing.
and He loves you beyond compare.
"We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." - Romans 6:4 ESV
